Aspen's ZGreen effort is a multi-pronged educational and certification program designed to reduce the environmental footprint of Aspen's community and business members. This unique program provides individuals, businesses, and events with effective ways to reduce their footprint, while at the same time providing a certification which works to distinguish real environmental efforts from general green washing.
Whether you live in Aspen, or are just visiting, you can do your part to help reduce Aspen's contribution to global warming.
The name ZGreen refers to the city's original ZG license plates. For many years the prefix ZG was marked on all license plates in Aspen and Pitkin County, making these plates recognizable as being from Aspen regardless of where the car traveled. Today, these plates are no longer issued, making ZG a bit of a collectors item and marking the program as uniquely Aspen.
